Office 2007 keyboard shortcut

Pivoting our arm to move from keyboard to mouse and back again is fraught with peril and can cause the painful malady known as mouse elbow. It helps to know how to use the keyboard to perform many everyday chores such as navigating and editing text, selecting data, applying formatting, working with documents and windows, and running program commands. Keyboard shortcut tricks will help us to keep our hands on the keyboard as much as possible.


Office 2007 is loaded with hundreds of keyboard shortcut tricks that we can take advantage of. These tricks will help us to keep our hands on the keyboard as much as possible.


Here's some general Office 2007 keyboard shortcut:



Press To
Ctrl+F1 Hide or show the Ribbon (the tabs remain in view).
Alt+F Display the Office menu.
Alt or F10 Move the focus to the active tab. This also displays the KeyTips over the tabs. (Press a KeyTip character to display the associated tab.)
Alt, left arrow Select the next tab.
Alt, right arrow Select the previous tab.
Alt, Tab Select the next command in the active tab.
Alt, Shift+Tab Select the previous command in the active tab.
Spacebar or Enter Display the selected gallery or menu.
Ctrl+C Copy the current selection to the Clipboard.
Ctrl+X Cut the current selection to the Clipboard.
Ctrl+V Paste the most recently cut or copied selection from the Clipboard.
Ctrl+Alt+V Open the Paste Special dialog box.
Ctrl+F Open the Find and Replace dialog box with the Find tab displayed.
Ctrl+H Open the Find and Replace dialog box with the Replace tab displayed.
Ctrl+K Open the Insert Hyperlink dialog box.
Ctrl+Y or F4 Redo the most recent action.
Ctrl+Z Undo the most recent action.
Ctrl+Alt+V Copy the formatting of the currently selected text or object.
Ctrl+Shift+V Paste the most recently copied formatting to the selected text or object.
Ctrl+B Apply bold to the selected text.
Ctrl+I Apply italics to the selected text.
Ctrl+U Apply underline to the selected text.
Ctrl+N Create a new document.
Ctrl+O or Ctrl+F12 Display the Open dialog box.
Ctrl+P Print the current document.
Ctrl+S Save the current document.
Ctrl+F2 Switch between the current view and Print Preview.
Ctrl+F4 Close the current document.
Ctrl+F6 Switch to the next open window.
Ctrl+Shift+F6 Switch to the previous open window.
Ctrl+F10 Maximize the current document window; restore a maximized document window.
F12 Display the Save As dialog box.
F1 Get context-sensitive Help.
F6 Move the focus forward through the available window sections: the current document, the status bar, the Ribbon, open task panes, non-modal dialog boxes (such as Find and Replace), and so on.
Shift+F6 Move the focus backward through the available window sections: the current document, the status bar, the Ribbon, open task panes, non-modal dialog boxes, and so on.
F7 Run the spelling checker.
Alt+F4 Exit the application.
Alt+F8 Display the Macros dialog box.
Alt+Shift+F10 Display the menu associated with a smart tag.
Alt+F11 Switch between the Visual Basic Editor and the application.
